Maintaining a Positive Attitude!
We all know that maintaining a positive attitude in our daily lives keeps productivity high. Then why does negativity tend to infiltrate our thoughts effortlessly? Why do we need to make special efforts to cultivate positivity? Let’s look into the innate habits of human evolution to answer this.
In ancient times, when humans roamed in jungles and lived in distinct groups, interactions often involved conflicts and struggles. The need for resources and the presence of various natural calamities compelled people to make arrangements for survival. During that period, people did not necessarily focus on what was thriving around them. Instead, their attention was instinctively drawn to identifying potential threats. For instance, they were constantly wondering if there was a hidden predator waiting to attack or if someone from a neighboring group was plotting to steal their resources. This instinct to seek out potential negatives was essential for survival!
The human brain is wired to seek out negativity subconsciously by using our five senses. This mechanism was crucial for early humans to survive in a world full of dangers. Even though our environment has significantly changed over the centuries, our brains are still wired to seek out negativity easily. Negative, in this context, means anything that is out of ordinary circumstances so that we can become alert and save ourselves.
Even today, without intentional efforts, negativity effortlessly creeps into our thoughts, while cultivating a positive mindset demands deliberate action. We can consciously train our minds to attract positivity by making special efforts. For example, reading these blogs multiple times, revising and discussing what we learn in webinars and retreats with our friends and families, or watching YouTube videos on sj’s Fueling Destinies channels! Soon, we will realize that we have set a new normal for our minds; instead of seeking negativity, our minds now attract positivity!
